Born in India, Ishan is passionate about accompaniment and chamber music and is involved in various collaborative projects. He is currently completing his Master's at the Royal Academy of Music, studying Piano Accompaniment under the tutelage of Michael Dussek and James Cheung.
Keen to pursue a career in repetiteurship, Ishan has an extensive knowledge of operatic repertoire. He is proficient in Italian, German, French, and Spanish complemented by a foundational understanding of Russian and Czech. He has been involved as a repetiteur and vocal coach in numerous opera productions (L’incoronazione di Poppea, Così fan tutte, La Traviata, Rigoletto, La Bohème, Suor Angelica, Turandot) working with conductors such as Kevin Class, Davide Levi, Toby Purser, Alessandro Pagliazzi, Alpesh Chauhan and Cristian Cimei. Additionally, he has contributed as musical director and keyboard player for amateur dramatic productions of Aladdin Jr, Annie and Spring Awakening.
Before moving to London, Ishan was a pianist for the Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham Opera Company and The People’s Show Choir. His orchestral keyboard performances include engagements with the University of London Symphony Orchestra, Kimichi Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Repertoire Orchestra.
He has also received coaching from renowned musicians, including Malcolm Martineau, Susan Manoff, Angelika Kirchschlager and Dylan Perez. Recently, he won second place at the Andrew Downes Prize in 2023; and the Delius Prize in 2022, adjudicated by Sir Mark Elder. Upcoming engagements include Die Zauberflöte as musical director with Opera Greenwich and Cavalleria Rusticana.
