Born in India, Ishan is passionate about accompaniment and chamber music and is involved in many collaborative projects. He is currently in his first year of Masters at the Royal Academy of Music studying Piano Accompaniment with Michael Dussek and Malcolm Martineau. His wide range of repertoire includes composers such as Godowsky, Albéniz and Ravel. Recently, he won second place at the Andrew Downes Prize 2023; the Delius Prize 2022, adjudicated by Sir Mark Elder; and was a finalist for the Stuart Cameron Smith French Song Prize in 2021.
Keen to pursue a career in repetiteurship, Ishan has a broad knowledge of operatic repertoire and is proficient in Italian, German, French and Spanish. He has been involved as a repetiteur and vocal coach in numerous opera productions (L’incoronazione di Poppea, Così fan tutte, La Traviata, Rigoletto) through Saluzzo and Vienna Opera Academies, working with conductors such as Kevin Class, Toby Purser and Alessandro Pagliazzi. He has been a pianist for the Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham Opera Company and The People’s Show Choir. Past projects include performing Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire with the Ripieno Players in the Birmingham Cathedral and playing orchestral keyboard with the RBC Repertoire Orchestra and Kimichi Symphony Orchestra in Birmingham Town Hall.
